Hello.
Does anyone have any photographs of vicky flats? I have asked the council but they dont have any. Think they are ashamed of them. Ta

Hello Gordonsgin,

This may not be of assistance, but I seem to recall that just prior to the flats being demolished, someone published a website about them. This was obviously a few years ago now.

You could write to the Macc Express to see if any of the people who used to live there have some photos they would like to share.

Hello again Gordonsgin,

I have just found the old Victoria Flats website address on:

http://www.communityonline.co.uk/links_searchdb.asp?vSearchID=9

If you then scroll down:
http://www.victoriaflats.co.uk/

I wondered if anyone might know who published this webpage originally?

Difficult to say who ran it as the domain registration has now lapsed and there is no whois info available for it.

The website was caught a couple of times by the Internet Archive:
http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://www.victoriaflats.co.uk/
(notoriously slow, doesn't always have pictures, but better than nothing!)

I have a very old aerial photo of Macc which you can just see the flats in - I'll see if there's any way I can get it scanned in.

Hello, I wondered if you had tried contacting either the planning department at the town hall, they may have taken photos of the flats prior to demolition. Also Macc library does have photos of the streets, before the flats were built. They were taken prior to demolition, I wondered if they might also have photos of the flats just prior to demolition. J

There might be some pictures on display here.

Sadly I remember playing on the site when they were building the ruddy things.

Hi Gordonsgin,

I popped into the town hall the other day to see the exhibition, one of the display boards 'Redevelopment of Victoria Park' was about Vicky Park flats and there were two photos of the flats themselves, one was a photo of a row of flats taken fairly close up and then another during demolition. If you give the council a ring the boards may still be available to view? don't know

I don't know if you have been in to the exhibition, they were also screening Macc's game against Fulham.

Another thought, have you tried contacting Doug Pickford who produces the Old Macc Magazine. He might have some old photos of the flats?

Hope this helps a bit

Tony Barker, MBC's Press & PR man, now works for Cheshire East. I know he had a major hand in putting together the display at the Town Hall a few weeks back that included pictures of the VP development. I'd recommend getting in contact with him to see if you could get copies. If you call the Town Hall they'll be able to put you in contact with him.

Good luck...
